What is Interdependence Building Day?

Interdependence Building Day (or IBU Day) is a day-long (10:00am to 5:00pm) event on Thursday, November 9th, 2017 in the Carolina Student Union Rooms 3206 A & B. The Day brings diverse campus organizational leaders together in search of innovative solutions to some of today’s most challenging social issues.

Why should I participate?

IBU Day is an opportunity to initiate invaluable mentoring and training for equity and intercultural campus leadership success across traditional social boundaries. Learn how to work effectively with other diverse campus organizations. Co-construct joint service projects that address important social issues.  Initiate sustainable new partnerships toward expanding and enriching our beloved Tar Heel community. Participants will begin the day by signing a symbolic Declaration of Interdependence. Ultimately, the resulting inter-organizational service projects will be captured via digital stories, presented, and awarded at each annual Interdependence event.

Who will be invited?

Organizational leaders from campus that have participated in the past include organizations like, the Carolina Indian Circle,  Muslim Student Association, Black Student Movement, Feminist Students United, and AEPi, as well as faculty members, graduate students, and advanced undergraduates specializing in intercultural equity and leadership.

How do I register?
